Ingredients :
1. Radish/mullangi - 250 grams
2. Split moong dal - 1/4 cup
3. Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
4. Split urad dal/black lentil - 1 teaspoon.
5. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
6.Turmeric powder - a pinch
7. Oil for seasoning - 2 teaspoons
8. Red chillies - 4
9. Salt - to taste
Method :
1. Peel the skin of radish and chop finely.
2. Pressure cook moong dal until soft. Cooked dal should not be mushy.
3. Place a kalai/pan on medium flame and add about 2 teaspoons of oil.
4. When oil becomes hot, add seasoning ingredients such as mustard, urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves.
5. When mustard seeds crackle, add chopped radish and stir for few seconds.
6. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
7. Sprinkle water, cover the pan with a lid and cook on low fire until the vegetable is soft.
8. When water evaporates completely, add cooked moong dal and mix well.
9. Transfer the contents into a bowl and garnish with curry leaves.
